Half Double Crochet Hat Pattern - Child's Size

I have found this half double crochet hat to be very versatile for making hats of every size...

Use H hook for smaller child and I hook for larger child.

You can make this hat all one color as well. 

Child (for smaller child use H hook. Older child use I Hook)

With Main Color:

Round 1: 8 HDC in magic ring, sl st in the first HDC (8 HDC)

Round 2: ch 1 (INC) x 8 (16 HDC)

Round 3: ch 1 (1 HDC, 1 INC) x 8 (24 HDC)

Round 4: ch 1 (2 HDC, 1 INC) x 8 (32 HDC)

Round 5: ch 1 (3 HDC, 1 INC) x 8 (40 HDC)

Round 6: ch 1 (4 HDC, 1 INC) x 8  (48 HDC)

Round 7: ch 1 (5 HDC, 1 INC) x 8  (56 HDC)

Round 8-15: ch 1, *HDC around, sl st in the first HDC (56 HDC)

Switch to second color:

Round 16-19 : ch 1, *HDC around, sl st in the first HDC (56 HDC)

Fasten off. Weave in tails.
